Winter storm Jonas!!!
« on: Jan 21, 2016, 08:03 PM »
So I'm sure you all know about this storm coming this weekend. All it means to me is that it's time to fish!!! I'm hearing 5-8 inches for most of the state. Anyone hear differently? Stay safe everyone and keep those lines tight!

I've heard several different forecasts ranging from 2-12 inches in SW CT.  Basically they have no clue.

Last I checked southern ct only a few inch 3-4 and northern Ct only like an inch. I don't think it will hit us that hard at all

I usually love the snow (I'm a teacher so I get days off and go ice fishing), but the last thing we need right now is a foot of snow on top of thin ice...

Up north, where most of the safe ice is, it will mostly be a wind event.  Not a problem since too much snow on the ice would insulate and prevent new ice formation.  We need some more thickness to extend this season.
If you can't play nice, get off the ice!

The bite is usually on before a big storm,we are still making ice now,if we get the predicted winds and snow most of it will blow off

I'll be at Mansfield in the morning, fishing big for pike. If anyone is interested in doing the same, just PM me and I'll look for you.

At the moment I'm at a loss for something witty/sarcastic to say in response to your post Jon. Trust me, my inability to make a wise remark is killing me!

So I'll just keep it simple and say this...I hope you slay 'em up there my friend! Text me pics of big ugly muscular pike shoulders!

Oh yeah, and PLEASE be safe. I need you to stay alive so I can drag you kicking and screaming to Mansfield with me for a skunking sometime this year!

The only conclusion I've come up with so far is that it's not the fish, it's not this lake or that pond, it's not my equipment nor is it the time of day or year...It's just me. I'm just plain bad at catching pike! Acceptance is the first step...

That said, I will continue bang my head against the wall in pursuit of them, hoping only to achieve a rare success every so often. But hey, at least the 6-7lb. largemouths I catch by mistake on giant spinnerbaits are fun!

Ya ya ya. You just wait partner...mark my words...by 2019 I'll have a 20lber. there. Then the 107 previous skunkings I will have endured will all be worth it!

I think the whole "waiting for the weekend to fish" thing is making me a little loopy. Come on tomorrow morning!
