been very,very,very busy. finally got some free time between school football and work to get on the shanty. its good to be back. as of right now my thermometer is reading 35*. very niceee. its getting closer

Don't know the actual name of the lake that So. Fallsburgh FD uses, but it's definitely private. They have plenty of parking room and they supply minnows for bait with your registration fee ( you can also buy extra bait if you want it, right there at the lake). Lots of guys showed up with snowmobiles/ATV's, but they are not necessary. You don't have to walk out very far on the ice to get to good fishing territory. My buddy and I walked only about 50 yards from shore and caught the winning Yellow Perch one year.
Anyway, after you have some more discussion, take a poll of the guys and decide which lake you'd want to fish. If you decide on So.Fallsburgh, let me know with a PM and I'll check out this years details.

It's gonna be awhile until the Southeast NY guys get back on the Shanty. No ice yet anywhere in our area...... they're not thinking about ice fishing yet. Give it until after Christmas for most of our guys to get back here. Besides, we "SOUTHERN BOYS" are in the minority on the Shanty. Most of the guys here are from "The Great White North" (LOL).

Morningside Lake, at Morningside Park between Hurleyville and Loch Sheldrake. E-Z to get to, lots of parking, no steps or barriers. They hold an ice fishing contest every year, had a good turnout last winter,
I drove over to check it out but didn't fish. Its just north of Monticello about 10 min. I plan on fishing that contest this year. Oh, they have walleye too.

no machines if we do it in my neck of the woods! we hoof it here. $:-\$ gas augers are ok on all but one lake.

I've got some skim on the lakes over here in morris county ,I'll be talking to my pal up in New Paltz tomorrow to get some info on the Ulster County area .I'll report back

pooley have you ever been on any of the Seven Lakes during ice season ,I think you can fish a couple of them if the ice is OKed by the ranger ,Stahahe would be an excellent day trip.

yes, i have fished almost all of them through the ice. i would like to fish there, but i will bring that up soon. there are many places to icefish in my area. i just have to decide on a few to throw at everyone. i'll post something soon.

i would go to lake george, or sacandaga for a regional, and wherever for a state trip. there will be ice closer than that, i hope! BTW, i fished at 3 different lakes this year. walton lake, blue lake, and laurel meadow ponds. we usually get ice.

if you can try to pick a lake with some brown or rainbow trout and have you decided on a date yet and for us nj guys the coser to the border as possible the state line is about 45 min to a hour for me depending on were ive made it to newcity in just over when my uncle lived their depending on trafic which in the early am aint a isue i cant wait to hook up with some of you ny guys

i can meet up with anyone who comes my way, or put you on ice if we get it first. i am in the middle of all the people responding to this thread, so in this area would be best. i will hold off on any vote, until the statewide gathering is voted on.

blue lake seems like a fine choice for me. theres everything in there. goos sized panfish some big bass and even a few trout every now and again. ive also heard that there might even be a couple walleyes
