First ice
« on: Dec 15, 2019, 06:53 PM »
REPORT
North Central Nebraska at the SD border. Only had a couple hours this evening and couldn't stand to not get out. Brother and I headed to a small lake that we thought would be accessible, since we got 3" of new snow last night on top of the 9-10 we got the other day. Drilled a safety hole close to shore and had 6.5" of good ice.  ;D
Headed across the lake and popped in some holes. Still 6.5 to 8" of ice. First drop I had a mark immediately. Missed that sucker 3 times and while I was rebaiting brother caught a small perch. Then nooooooooottttttttthhh hhhhinnng! :( Fished until dark and never got another bite. BUT :D

Would say bummer and mean it but you were ice fishing and I won’t be for a couple more weeks judging by the forecast!
Keep it safe! JDL
