Looks like a very cold week coming up. Maybe we will be out there next weekend. Keep our fingers crossed. Game Hog keep us posted with your accurate ice reports thanks man.

Anybody got a report on ice conditions out of mayville? I called Hogan’s hit and Laura told me to call back later for “the fishing guy” lol. Would love to try the Vikings club this weekend but I’m nervous of all the snow

I didn't find where the institute has a web cam facing the lake, but the Chautauqua lake association has one in Lakewood. It's at the yacht club

Sorry - actually it looks like the association is further east towards the Lakewood Rod and Gun club. That camera is kinda looking out into the western part of Burtis Bay I think. maybe towards Elmhurst? For some reason I always thought it was at the "beach" in Lakewood.

I talked to skip yesterday at Hogan’s hut. He said north half of the lake is open water. They are breaking up the ice near the bell tower for duck hunters. Told me to give him a call Friday for an update. The best webcam is the Burris bay one the only other one I can find is for snowmobiles and doesn’t really show the lake

Just got home from a complete ride around. East side of the lake has a ton of snow on top. West side is snow free in spots. Mayville has the only open water I could find. If the winds continue to die down the whole lake should be froze over in the am. Snow amounts were incredible in mayville. Closer to the bridge you got the less amounts you find. Long point was plowed out nicely. Mayville and prendergast not so much. Still lots of snow to move so be courteous to them plow guys. Did not see a single track of guys out checking.

Took the spud for a walk this am. Let’s just say as of 10 am there is not one spot on the lake north of the bridge that I’d be on. Side to side the conditions changed but overall the ice thickness is not there yet. Best I came up with wasn’t 2” of good ice. Some places you had to go in the slush up to your knees just to find the ice. Going to give it a few days and try again. Stay safe everyone.

Haven’t heard anything from either lake. I have a hard time believing any ice is safe right now.

Fished this am. South end directly across lake from Smith Boys. Good to be out for first time this year. Surprisingly good ice conditions with no slush. 5-inches ice. Unfortunately so were the perch.
