I'm going to enter this in the scenic category, if you want to call it that. The sun was coming up when we got there and within a half hour this is what happened, we didn't see shore till 2 in the afternoon that day. Lake Erie at it's finest.
Be safe out there, and set the iron.

And if you are taking a army of friends, you can just zip them together
(Image removed from quote.)

That is one of the best sleds I have ever seen, easy and very practical.....

Thanks, If I didn't have this sled, it would be like pulling a big brick.

It was easy to build. I took apart 2 8' toboggans, because there is only 7 boards per toboggan and I wanted 4 boards per side to make the runners. The speedrail you can get at any fence company.

AT the base of Mt Kino at moosehead lake at one of the deeper spots

One of the first shacks I built   had to plow to it too often  and was super cold at night

This is a picture after a day of fishing on Lake Sharp.
My grandson won the kid's ice fishing tourney with a nice 19" walleye, so it was a perfect day

My 1st picture post on this site, hopefully I'll get better at it.......

Not to get off topic, so this will be all I have to say about the subject.  Every team in the NFL, including the vikings, would take Aaron Rodgers over Brett Favre right now.  Rodgers is not why the Packers are struggling and Favre is not why the Vikings are winning, simple as that.

As a long time Vikes fan, I have to agree.

Awesome thread here.................. ........ ;D ;D
80% of Americans are unhappy with the direction our once great Country is heading. Yet 80% of Americans insist on buying blue jeans that were made in China, coffee filters that were made in Taiwan and anything else that was made anywhere but here........wonder if there might be a connection?

Heres one for the best but ugly category.  Talk about teenagers with good intentions, random items laying around a garage, and a case of old mil light!

Will let's try this again ... Here's the winter get away it's  8 x 18 crank down with a hinged hitch, it weighs in at about 3400 lbs, has smooth aluminum siding with rock guard all the way around. Dual 40 lbs propane tank's, vinyl Thermal windows, and trailer lights. On the inside theres a, Sat TV, Microwave, 6 holes, Rattle Reels, 12 volt hole lights, 110 volt lights & outlets, Battery Tender, 3 Burner Gas Cook Top With Oven, Forced air Furnace, for back up to keep the hole's open when your away there's a vented Empire Gas Heater, a Dinette with under seat storage with a bay window, there's also a small storage room in the V front area.   (Image removed from quote.)      (Image removed from quote.)      (Image removed from quote.)
That's what I'm talking about....nice rig, I'm jealous!!!

The first one is our hardside  . The pic was taken at sunrise . We came out in the dark and drove through 12-16 inches of water on top of the ice .  When the sun came up it looked like this .  I drilled a few holes in the ice under the icetop pond . I took 4 hours to drain .

here is another pic of our portable with Mt. Washington in the background .

All the pictures posted on this thread are great and I wish everyone good luck...I have since retired the HT and now own a Clam Kenai and am waiting for the ice to arrive.....

Best Scenic Shot
I took this picture 2 years ago.  The mountain in the background is Turtle Mountain and in 1903 the North Face of the mountain broke away resulting in the greatest landslide in North American history.  In 100 seconds at least 76 people killed and three-quarters of the homes in the town of Frank were destroyed.

Best Portable Shanty
The province of Alberta has a holiday in February called family day.  My son and I went to a ice fishing derby (Feb 2009)that was held on this holiday.  The HT Polar Express Pull over worked quite well and when we weren’t having any luck, we just through it in the sled and moved. We didn't win but it was great day spent with my youngest son.

I have know Idea of what category the should be in so I'll leave it to the "Gods!"
I purchased a voyager tarp this year and built the rest. I give thanks to skipper for some measurement and pics of his sled.
So here's the breakdown. The sled rides on conduit skis. The sled has 4 covered compartments and two open ones. one compartment lid folds out to a table. One compartment has storage for rods(with a holder) and tipups. The rest are misc. the open compartments are for the big budd and a lantern. I have a deep cycle battery that runs LED lights in each compartment that are on it's own switch as well a as three LED's that illuminate the fishable area. A 12V outlet was installed for a dead cell phone ect... I also have the RPS system installed on my homemade slide poles.

You can check out the full built here if your interested.  http://www.iceshanty.com/ice_fishing/index.php?topic=117507.80

Early and Late Ice here I come!  (Portable Category)

My homemade shanty is very lite weight and it has an aluminum ramp door for loading your wheeler and/or sled in. The walls are 2x2 with very light weight fiberglass panels for walls and roof. The windows are Plexiglas. The sub floor is actual aluminum also. This summer, I just added 1/4" plywood on the floor to keep it warmer. I also added the catch covers and some old carpet to the aluminum ramp door for warmth. It also has 12volt over head lighting and led lighting for each of the 3 holes. Drink/beer holders. Rattle reels inside and outside. It also has folding shelves for resting flashers on. It has many hooks for coats and or lanterns. I also put a hook up for resting my auger on the outside.  It has two entrance doors, one towards the front and one in the back so you don't have to step over each other when nature calls. I've had this shack for two years now and it is a joy when you need to get out and become mobile late or early season. My friends tell me it looks like an Amish buggy.

PS: If you look close you can see some snowflakes falling in the first picture. I just took these pictures 15 minutes ago. Let the ice come!!!!
