Title: Tip up Walleye baits

Any other baits to try on tip ups besides live or dead minnows? Would shrimp or nightcrawlers work?

Nightcrawlers and leeches also work, but minnows are pretty hard to beat.

Nightcrawlers work for trout.  But I have never caught a walleye on one while ice fishing.

Just watched a video where a guy in Canada was catching them on fresh water shrimp...and he was targeting perch. Soooo maybe???

I have only tried the canned shrimp and had limited success with perch and trout. Much better success with other baits so don't really use them anymore, but if you haven't used them give them a try different bodies of water often yield different results.

Anyone ever try freshwater shrimp or the shrimp you get to feed pets at a pet store?
