I think the Marcum VX-1 is a great flasher. I picked one up when the rebate was on and I really like it.

Love my MarCum LX-2 flasher, amazing how the same unit costs $75 more than it did a couple of years ago. Camera, have had a Cabela's Advanced Angler ($180) for a couple of weeks and love it, friend has an Aqua-Vu Scout XL. Think the Cabela's is a better camera and $100 less. Get a flasher first.

Do you already have a sonar for your boat?  I bought an eagle that has an Ice fishing mode on it that stops the scroll but keeps scanning.

Maybe a combo job like that would be a good idea.

Dont forget to look at ebay.  My father got his vexilar for around 280 bucks.

I got a marcum LX-2...I love it!....I payed $336 out the door.  I like it in a pinch when guys are using there vexilars all around you...and then you turn up the interference ...viola you see the fish and those who have vexilars ...don't.  I also believe marcum's are a little more compact...and you get thecarrying case with the unit...not another 30 bucks for the cover for the vexilar.
Bullet with a name on it.

MarCum, Vex just has better advertising and more paid "Super Stars" using them. Comparable models are more expensive for basically the same features, except Marcum has 1500 watts - Vex only 1000, DROWN THEM OUT,  heheheheheh.
