i hear the smelt are biting very well some nights with reports of 200 or more.
i fish green lake for smelt because they are smaller but the bite is slow.

If you are looking for pike, i was at houghton this past week and in front of korbinski's lake side hotel the pike were hitting pretty hard.  we were fishing in about 3 ft of water out from the small inlet.  They were biting on small to medium sized minnows/sucker decoys.  My dad caught a 27", and had a 30" hop off right out of the hole..  Good luck this week...

I was on Higgins on Sat & Sun and caught smelt, the ice gets alot thinner the farther out you go. Didn't go out a long ways no one was
