Panfish rod help
« on: Nov 12, 2015, 12:39 PM »
I’m looking to get some suggestions on a longer panfish rod. My go to panfish rods right now are a No 8 Snitch, a Scheels brand 24” with a spring bobber, and an HT Ice Blue 32”. The Snitch and Scheels rods are both great in a shack, and the Ice blue is good for hole hopping.  However, I don’t love the Ice blue and would like that to be my back up longer rod. What would be a good 32” or longer rod that would be in the $30-$40 range? I like the Jason Mitchell rods, but I haven’t seen one in the longer size.

36 inch panfish popper would be my suggestion in that price range.  Take the spring bobber off and polish the tip top to get rid off the glue residue.  I don't recommend the combo tho, for the reel is pretty poor.

Might want to take a look at the Frabill Quick Tip 35". It's $35 at fishusa.com

I have the St. Croix Premiere 36" L rod for hole hopping.  I found that the 36" is a bit too long for bite sensitivity.  It is more of a visual tip rod.  Being a 36" rod it also makes for an awesome dead stick rod.  It basically replaces my Thorne Bros 32" dead stick rod.  I guess I prefer a more of a J curve bend even if its slightly on the moderate curve being a L power rod.
