Trout any one?
« on: Dec 13, 2021, 11:56 AM »
Not from your state but saw this on facebook and thought maybe it would interest someone. looks to be from this am.

Last Thursday and Friday (Dec 9/10) we were forced to stock about 12,000 Rainbow Trout (average about 8-9 inches) due to a broken supply pipe for the tank these fish were housed. We have stocked just over 1,000 fish into each of the 10 lakes listed below. If you are boating please be sure to wear your PFD as it will save your life should an unexpected accident occur.
Highland Lake, West Hill Pond, Tyler Pond, Mount Tom Pond, Beach Pond, Coventry Lake, Mashapaug Lake, Gardener Lake, Crystal Lake, Amos Lake

That will certainly make a lot of anglers happy! Not me, but lots of others will take advantage of that, I'm sure.
Maybe someday I'll think of something clever to write here...but I doubt it.

I think they will make a lot of Pickerel and Bass happy. ;) Sardine sized for foraging pleasure.

Yeah, those are big ones. Hope we get good ice soon, so we can settle the debate over whether an 8" hole is big enough.  ;D

Seaforellens, good to see that program is gaining momentum. Such a great fishery, it’s about time 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼

An 8” hole is plenty big enough. I caught this stocked trout in 2008 and there was plenty of room to get it out. Caught it right off shore with 20lb floro and a #6 treble hook…they’re not the smartest fish lol.

No question you're correct. I know you've pulled other big fish through 8" holes as well.

I learned my lesson back in 2015 when I couldn’t get a 46” fish through the hole. I’ve been using a 10” auger since and I’m glad I bought it.
