Need help fixing door on fishing shany
« on: Dec 06, 2002, 07:46 AM »
I have a two person Shappell shanty and the mice decided to use some of the material for nesting.I would say about 60 to 70 % of the door/end is gone.  Does any one have any sugestions on replacing the zippered door?
I thought about closing off the one side, but I have not found a good adhesive for plastic to plasitc.
Any suggestions to help salvage it would great.  Thanks.

I'm not sure what the Shappell covers are made of.If it is a plasticized material I would say hot glue it and reinforce with stitching. If it is a polyester or conventional fabric I would try Beacon Fabric Tac. My buddy had a similar problem with his old Fish Trap and the BFT worked great.  LoneWolf

If there is a boat tarp repair shop around they can sew in a piece to fix it for you. They should have some material on hand that will work.

Try a local awning shop, they have the materials and equip. They should be able to help you.

Hey

I'd go with fishguts idea.  Those awning shops often have scraps they may give you.

GOOD LUCK :)
