Needed to get back on the ice, so met up with Fishslap and we traveled the opposite direction as the South Park googans. Really wanted to just get back in the swing of things and try out some new gear. Wind wasn't supposed to be too bad, so we figured it was worth a shot. Got to the lake and had the entire place to ourselves. Spudded our way out, and found 4-4.5" everywhere we drilled. The edges were kinda sketchy and a bit less ice.
Yeah, sustained winds of 20-25 mph. Not too bad. Blew ourselves around the lake looking for fish, and they were hard to find. SLOW. Managed a couple of pretty fish on my HD Ice. They wanted it hard and fast. New gear worked great -- my first Smitty Sled pulled very smoothly on the snow. The new hat kept me warm, despite the fashion issues. My M18 power source powered the flasher all day and was 3/4 bars remaining. My M18/Clam/Mora setup ate through the ice. Prolly drilled 30-40 holes and the battery is still at 4/4 bars. All in all, a slow but successful outing.
