J-Wheelz!
« on: Jan 11, 2013, 06:36 PM »
A LOT of folks at the  Helena Great Rockies show last weekend were very impressed with the J-Wheelz I had on the WILcraft. So much so that I became a Montana dealer for them.

If you don't know what they are, they are a set of foam filled roto molded wheel extensions you bolt onto the wheels of your quad, side by side, etc. WAY cheaper than tracks, they offer great snow traction and best yet, 310# of flotation to your rig. (About 75# per wheel)

If you operate on frozen lakes, you need these! If you operate in deep snow, mud, sand, etc. the extra traction is amazing!

Check out their web site...ez enough to find, then contact me for the best deal going.

I have them on my Honda Rubicon and love them.  Every time i pull into a gas station I have several people ask me about them.  Good cheep way of saving your bike from ending up on the bottom of the lake.  One thing I do recomend is to buy some foam board, shape it and place it between them and the wheel for added flotation and keeps dirt and snow from colecting in the void of the rim.

I'll have to get you to work up a price for my '96 Arctic Cat Bearcat 454.  It takes a special adapted cause the wheels are held on by bolts and not by lug nuts.

Yep.  Iv'e been researching them for a couple of years.  I've been talking to Don about the used unit he has and getting it upgraded to 2013 standards.  We are looking for financing right now.  I might get the second unit in Montana!

They definately work. They aren't tracks when it comes to ultimate traction, but they offer #310 flotation, far greater traction in snow, mud, sand etc, more stability on side hills and anywhere a wider wheelbase comes in handy.

The cost is very reasonable and they go on and off in about 5 mins per wheel. They add virtually no weight and steal no horsepower, like tracks do.

For use in an ice fishing situation, they are the ultimate!

I'll beat any legitimate price AND throw in a Perch Assault rod with purchase! ;D

Went to Frances this weekend and got to really try out my J-Wheelz in heavy snow drifts.  Snow was on a little crust on top.  I was impressed with how well these things can dig.  I could get through the drifts just great log as I keep my momentum up.   I did slow down and tried to crawl through on and dig myself to the ice and spun out.  I think if a guy had some machine screws in his tires I would have kept on going.  I tried a monster drift on shore that was twenty yards long and made it half way through.  Not sure even a 4 wheel drive pickup would have made it.  Basically the bike was high center.  I tromped down the snow in the center of the bike path and mowed right on through.  Over all I would say they work great just need to know there limitations plus I bought them for flotation.

I had to build a special ATV bed for the truck because the bike wouldn't fit inside the bed.  Works great because I have room for the portable shanty and all my gear.

Once you have the chains on, they should bolt right up. You replace 2 of your wheel studs with the connector for the  2 bolts that hold the wheels on.

Bowhntr, it looks like you have the standard 2 inch paddles, they make a taller paddle, which are about 4.5" tall. GREAT on the rear wheels and add to the traction. They slide right in...
Glad to hear you are having success with them!

I look at it this way.

I don't go to the bar.  I don't go to the casino.  I don't go to the strip joint.  My vice is the outdoors.  I do it with my family so I buy the best gear that money can provide so I keep my family safe, warm, and having fun.  I don't want my kids to turn out like so many of today's youth so I spend as much time with them as I can in the outdoors so that they have a real appreciation for life, hard work, and the wild outdoors.  My kids all know that a real dinner doesn't come from the store or in a bag that got handed out a drive through window.

I've even made the  decision that for 2013 I will not drink any alcohol.  I LOVE me some Bud Lights when I'm out fishing or trying to relax but I figure I can use that money to buy new outdoor toys and I can show some of my family members that are struggling with alcoholism that I can be strong for them.

Self deprivation is the key to finding your inner strength and finding out how bad you want something.  It's also an easy way to save money for the good things in life.

I'm totally with Jay on this one. I don't have that kind of motorized gear(4-wheelers etc.), that is by choice but the gear I do have is really nice. I am able to do this because I don't drink, smoke, go to bars, or gamble and I only go out to eat a few times a year at most. The money I do make over and above regular expenses like food child support, rent and such goes toward outdoor stuff for myself and my boys. I don't have any other hobbies besides hunting, fishing, and trapping. It is really all about priorities. You put what money you have extra on your priorities.

Lets not kid ourselves, money spent on good quality gear is worth it's weight in gold.  This sport is done in some pretty dangerous and uncomfortable situations.  Anything that costs a little extra is way worth it.  Also lets not forget the most expensive gear is the gas it costs to go to all these fun places to fish and you can't get around that,so as long as you love it spend the money!!!!!!!!!!
