i had a bass on last year up on kelly bay at lake champlain that i had to break off...i could not fit it through my 7" hole...i was by myself, and it just kept getting stuck when i tried to pull it through the hole...and the whole situation was made worse by the 34" of ice.

I have yet to catch a bass through the ice :-\ But open water, we go to a club that is privately owned and run, (my cousins happen to do this :P) and my biggest is 10.5 lbs. I have caught many 5-9 lbers. The 10.5 is on video at his house on his camera..I should try to get it. His 8 year old kid was fishing with us, and he caught a 8lber while I was getting the hook off mine. Man, I love the rich lakes ;D And he also swears to this day I had caught the state record rock bass, This thing was huge I bet it was close to 3 lbs!

My biggest was a 4 1/2 lber while fishing for crappie.  Since bass are out of season here I dont fish for them but man do they put up a fight when you hook one on ultralight gear fishing for pannies.

My biggest bass through the ice is 20 inches. My son beat me by one inch on the last day of game fish earlier this year.

Just waiting for the hardwater.

WOW, those are some really nice fish through the ice. The biggest I've caught standing on the water was probably 3 1/2 lbs. Open water I've caught a few 8's. 7lb smallie out of erie fishing the islands.

Here is a quick pic of the 26 incher that o got this past Saturday.

(Image removed from quote.)

Wow 26 inches and that stout. How much did that bass weigh. 8 or 9 pounds? I mounted a really fat Florida bass that was only 25 inches on a board but was just under 10 lbs.

nice bass jiggerman    a replica would look good on the wall.

most skin mounts ive seen dont even look like the original fish

as long as you have a good photo and measurements of the fish
fiberglass replicas are the way to go

Then you need to find a better taxidermist.  ;)

Here's a skin mount I did of a bass just under 10 lbs. for a customer. I personally don't like to jack the jaws this far apart but the customer wanted that.

If I built you up some really nice "natural environments" do you think you'd be able to talk your clients into buying them? It'd help you convince them to do double sided mounts........

Could you clarify? Not sure what you mean?

I do double sided mounts occasionally in glass cases. This guy was a good customer so I didn't require the usual 50 percent deposit. He claims he is having financial problems.

How's this for a coffee table I sold recently?

Thanks. I did simulate slush around the hole after the pic was taken.

Flack? Before I specialized in fish I used to do gameheads. If I had a nickle for everytime I heard the wife say you're not hanging that in MY HOUSE I'd be a rich man. I really wanted to say, "Doesn't the house belong to both of you?" but I would bite my tongue.

My biggest bass wasn't all that big. I caught it yesterday and it also counts as my first bass through the ice. It was a 14 inch lagemouth and I caught it on a gold hook with about 4 maggots.
