Thanks for the update. We opted for a trip to Sturgeon Bay this year, but I still may try to get out on Erie as a DIY trip.

Thanks for the update. I am trying to get over to my place on Kelleys. We are always at least a few weeks behind PIB. Might have to go back to South Bass where we used to go before I got the place on KI! Thanks again.

Any eyes on Catawba?
Might do a scouting mission tomorrow but heard rumors of the wind tearing up what ice was there. 3-4 hour round trip so any info would be a fuel saver

Thanks buddy!
It has been awhile. Been chomping at the bit to get out there again. Hoping it stays accessible if it does happen. Might drive up tomorrow and have a look.  I haven’t seen anything on the cams either and the silence is killing me hahaha

Nice, I've gone out off that ramp many times. We have a trip planned for Sturgeon Bay at the end of February, but I'm hoping I can find the time to get out on Erie at least once. Good luck out there!

Made it almost 2 miles on foot, NW out of Catawba, there were a few machines that pushed out even further, couple sleds may have even gone all the way to islands, but not sure. Caught about 2 dozen walleye only 2 keepers, rest were between 8"-14.5" thinnest ice we measured was 4.5-5

Any recommendations on a decent ice guide? I been looking but not alot of options, I like the airboat guy but thats a bit on the expensive side and i think hes all booked up. Im 4 hrs away and never been, jigged plenty of pounds after ice out but never on the ice, basically just need transport and shelter Anyone want a tag along id pay for that too! Thanks in advance for any suggestions

call 419-285-7181 they can give you info on a guide...I was lucky enough to get back yesterday..winds were bad...I fished sun-tues..The ice is in good shape,12-14" everywhere  I drilled..the water was clear but the bite was off..I cought a few but not lots..I had to work for them..Im not sure what this weather will do to the ice..Flying back I saw lots of open water and I think shore fishin may be over before it gets started...The ice off the island I think will be around for a couple more weeks.. Most guys are fishin over by green and a few here and there. Till next week    greg

I hope for the best...I will post when i get back..greg

Well,so much for that..Had to cancel today..Ice no good.I guess with all the wind and open water the current was rippin and ate it good..Im told only one small spot out from the ship still fishable..Only about 5" of soft ice...Its not worth it to me...Oh well, see ya next season...greg
