I'm sitting here at work watching In-Depth Outdoors and Uncut Angling ice videos. I've already watched a half a dozen different episodes over the past two days. First ice can't get here soon enough!!!

I'm on the IS 2 -4 times a day. Went through my gear a few times now. Sold my old Wide House 5500 and bought the bigger 6500. Been looking at the tracking number 2 times a day because I can't wait to set it up and check it out. I also bought a new reel to go with a new rod I bought at the end of last season. Got it spooled up and ready to go. Trying to sell a camper shell off a truck I just bought so I can buy more stuff. I don't have it bad though. My name is Lefty and I am an Ice Freak.

We have been unseasonably warm

Suppose to start to cool down next week. It cannot get here quick enough

I'm living..... I haven't put the boat away yet and still want to get back out muskie fishing yet. These cold temps make it look like I will be shifting to the ice sooner than later. I fish either way open or ice.

Im friends with a guy with IDO. I have not visited the site yet. Do they have videos? I got it pretty bad too. Only had 1 full season under my belt. introduced by father in-law 2 yrs ago. Wifes regretting it... I think I have boughten 2 rods, an ION, 2 more flashers, Striker climate suit, 400g bottom, 200g top wool Ullfortte Woolpower thermals from Red Rock Wilderness, built and insulated 70"x70" 3" high 4 piece floor for my Eskimo 3i. And still many more things on my list before ice.

This stinks, I really wanted to ice fish in October this year. I never have before, this is my first year up here.

Got it bad! I'm waiting on my custom rod and buying stuff for setting up my wheeler. Oh and checking water temps! been in the 30's for the last few days here

Ya me to I've been watching a lot of shows also and working on equipment and buying way to much again . The best new shows I've found is Jason Mitchell outdoors and we love it outdoors they are new shows that are sponsored by Mills Fleet Farm and I also seen a new show from Tom grenwald outdoors. Ya I got it bad LOL

are you getting paid at work, while you watch videos and typing here in the forum? you don't have to answer that, just a thought. if so, you are smarter than me.

i love to fish, more than eating them and thats a problem. i have too many and can't give them away fast enough and can't learn to catch and release.

now is the time where its too cold to hop in the boat with a motor and get blasted by the cold wind in the face, but too warm to get on ice. i keep thinking i'll install a wind shield, but it's not there. even if it were, i still have too many fish and haven't been fishing while it was warm near the end of the warmer days because of it. i had one person take every thing i caught, but he is too sick (hopefully not from the fish) and my old (passed and hopefully not from the fish) fishing buddy used to take them too. i miss the guy, we fished 10 hour days almost every day and i quit fishing after his passing for two years. i have a new fishing buddy chris about my age, but he would rather kill dear than fish. some thing about puts more food on the table over a fish. i think its the addiction to killing them with a bow/gun.
my wife said she will ice fish with me this season (first time for any thing) and looking forward to it and buying her some things too. buying things for my self is centering my thoughts on ice fishing more than it would if not buying, but its some thing to do.
i have another new ice fishing buddy thats 82 yoa craig and extremely tight budgeted. bothers me how one will not spend when they have tons of cash and not much time left on earth. he fishes with his old handmade equipment he built in the forties and refuses to try any thing else or at least not for long, because he's uncomfortable using a spinning reel and wire bobber. at least he takes all the fish and so i can fish and not waste them. its fun to try to teach him new things while i'm loading the ice with fish and follows behind me trying to get the fish i may have missed. when he and i go open water fishing, he takes his cane pole (yikes) and can only fish with that even tho i let him use my gear, he can't get the hang of any thing but his own. i did get him to spring on some cleats last nite while i was buying some for my wife (shoocker).

any way, not fishing is not fun... at all.

havent even took my gear out...did start the auger last week...in process of building my first permie..that is my excitement as of now...still about 6 weeks off for me here in the yoopee...after rifle season...it will get so bad ill be checking the lakes after one night of below freezing.

Oh Yeah I got it bad but not to bad can't look past deer season! One more night and the smitty sled/portable well be done. After that it's time to rig up the tip ups and set up another eagle claw in line set. I think I am going to go with a medium action something or another and bam I'll just be waiting for ice.

i was able to put it out of mind right up until the last day of elk season...
then i happened to catch that perfect smell of cold air and still weather.

the itch'll be a bit better once i get my fly tying bench up and running again, but man... i got the bug pretty bad right now.

you sound like my dad. can't seem to get the hang of catch and release, but can't eat what he keeps and can't give it away fast enough. THEN, he gets mad at me cuz I let them go! trying to teach an old dog new tricks.

Hunting will keep me busy for an other month so I'm not too bad yet. But I ordered an otter XT1200 a couple of weeks ago and should show up in a week or so, and put it together might kick the ice rut in me.....
