Foam floor mats
« on: Dec 01, 2021, 05:20 PM »
I bought some of the foam floor mats to go inside the new popup I ordered.  I got the 12x12 inch mats and strips of 4 fit in my sled nicely.  I was thinking about gluing or taping them together in 4x1 rectangles so they will be easier to assemble and maybe stay together better on the ice.  My initial thought was to tape the seam on each side with gorilla tape or tenacious tape.  I wanted to check here to see if anyone else had any luck gluing or taping, or if people think it is a dumb idea.  Thanks!

The ones I've got are 24x24.  Gold's Gym foam matt from the dreaded wallyworld place.  I have not taped mine, but the thought did cross my mind.  I sort of like them individual just in case I wanted a knee pad matt.

No such thing as a dumb idea, unless yer speaking of politics.  ;D I think I'd tape them, too, just so you can seperate them after a trial run. But then, my shelter had a carpeted floor, so I'm not much help for ya.

Weldwood contact cement will stick them together, forever.

I think I am going to try the weldwood cement on a few.  I will report back if it works well.  Thanks for the idea.

I ended up ordering some 2x2 squares instead, but the weldwood did work pretty well gluing the tiles together.  I didn't get the entire surface between the tiles to bond, but enough to keep them together.

Purchased dozen of the 12x12 mats with same intentions of doing same. Ended up drilling a hole in center and cutting
it to make a hole cover for tip ups. To keep hole from freezing up works great.
I ended finding at Ace Hardware a roll up foam mat that is 4x6 I believe it works amazing.
