Crappie smelting
« on: Feb 16, 2019, 07:46 AM »
Me and "The Boy" did a little night fishing last night targeting smelt. Found them right where I thought they'd be

Stacked from 30 feet all the way down to 60 feet. Was surprised at the amount of crappie that were mixed in with them, we caught somewhere around 40 crappie ranging from 6" to 14"

Ended the night with somewhere around 60 smelt

May try to get out one last time next weekend before the season closes

I’m on Onata now and smelted last night, same thing for me they were mixed with crappies. You did much better though I only landed 3 smelt

I caught more crappie than smelt at onota last Saturday. But the smelt were bigger than the crappie actually. Some of the smallest crappie I've seen looked like pike candy. Only managed 5 smelt

Those look like onota smelt and the depth seem similar. At least someone got them. Nice work

They have been hard to get at Onota, not enough guys out there with lights anymore. There are tons of them in there.
If fishing was work I'd never be sick!
