Back when I was a young boy, I'd drill a hole, start fishing and hope to catch a few fish if I got lucky. When I got back into ise fishing last year from a long absence, I bought an Aqua-Vu and a portable fish finder, checking depth before driling, moving if there were no fish on the camera.
Well, before this season, I sold the Aqua-Vo (building my own color unit) and my fish finder (ordered an X67C Ice Machine), so the first trip of the year was done without any electronics. It was still a heck of alot of fun, and frankly, the mystery of pulling a fish up when you don't know what it is was something I missed having used a camera most of last year. Sure, I didn't catch as many, but I would say it wasn't any less enjoyable. Especially when a fish on my microlite panfish popper rod and small perch jig turned out to be a 26" pike, that didn;t run till I had him to the hole
.
Back to basics was fun, but I'm hoping the electronics will be back for next trip
