Went out today to Thompson's Lake in Berne, NY. It was a beautiful day, but the fishing seemed slow for most of the guys out there. Moved my baits around a lot, and managed to keep up with the fish. Got seven pickerel and 2 perch, and lost several more. Nothing impressive, but the first fish of my icefishing season. Thought I'd share.

Bigger than it looks. Awful photo quality.

Went fishing today at Thompsons Lake from 6am to 11am. Caught 5 pickerel and 1 very pretty Rainbow Trout that measured 16.5" It was a big surprise when I had an UL jig rod with 2lb test. Beautiful colors on it.

One of the pickerel

More pickerel!

Tell me about it! It was about 40 degrees, and nice fish were hitting. Hopefully it doesn't get too warm this week, I'd like to get on a small pond.

Went fishing on a small pond today. Got out early, and there was no one else out on the ice. Yes!

Got 30 flags or more, and managed 20 fish between 6:30 and 1.

11 pickerel, 7 perch, and 2 Largemouths.

Biggest pickerel of the day: 19"

Chubby little pickerel. ;D

Favorite picture so far this year. Smaller of the two bass, right around 15"

Bigger bass, 17", but rather thin. Glad I could get him some food, lol.

Nice healthy perch on a tipup.

And here's all the fish that I kept.

All in all it was a really enjoyable day, even though there weren't any huge fish. Thought I'd like to share. The photos that is, I'll keep the fillets to myself. :P

Have a good one guys

Went fishing in a small pond today from 7 - 11:45. Slow fishing overall, but managed a few fish.

Caught 5 pickerel and one really nice 17.5" Largemouth.

This pickerel coughed up a little bass fry and a bullfrog tadpole.

Biggest pickerel of the day.

Little one, bit me bad. ;D

The big fish of the day!

Nothing too exciting, but it was good to get out, especially on a Monday.

Thanks for viewing.

Forgot one thing!

Quick question about a set of tracks that I came across along a small stream that serves as the pond's outlet. It was a pretty smooth, straightforward trot, and I figure that its a Racoon, but I thought I'd check with some people who are mroe familiar on here.

First one to answer wins, well...nothing. But it'll make me pleased to know.

Well I'm not sure, I figure there may be, as I've heard there are Fishers in the region. I'm in Upstate New York, and this is a evergreen/deciduous forest around a group of lakes and small ponds and streams. I don't know how much more I can think of off of the top of my head.

Thanks for the guesses guys

If you saw those tracks in the run then they are more than likely fishers. I have seen quite a few of them thru the years there in my adventures.

Wow, an otter would be pretty cool. My dad was thinking that, as we have a few in the region, but I wasn't sure, since there wasn't any real big open body of water.

Thanks all, anyone else think they might know what it is?

Looks like a Bobcat. How far were they spaced out?
If they are spaced around16-20inches...it could be a Bobcat!
Then again...what the Heck do I know :P

Wouldnt see claws on a Bobcat...just pad print.  Cat prints are more circular as well :)

They were too close together to be a bobcat's tracks. I would say nothing more than about 8-12 inches. Also, like it was mentioned, I'm pretty sure the claws would be retracted.

Other thing thats nearly a dead giveaway for otter is the toe print next to the pad instead of all toes in front.

I live in Columbia CO. and have a small pond out back that was pretty much destroyed by the otters.  They eat until they can't fit anymore in their guts and then throw-up everything on shore and start over. It only takes a few to wipe out a pond.  I have a buddy that traps them when he can.  Big money in the pelt.

I'd like to see them make a resurgence, so you won't see me trapping them. I think they're really interesting animals, and if they eat alot of fish, so be it. To each their own though. :)
