I posted these quite a while back.  These are some I made and are very light and very portable.

I saw this one back a while ago and made me one. The one change I made was I used an ABS sink tailpiece instead of the heavier PVC. I will try and get a pic of it later. Good design Prince!!

I'm new to this forum and it looks great.  When I saw this subject I was impressed and had to post.
Here's my entry:

The main holder won't let go of the rod until you lift it out.  The add-on balances the rod to make it rock like a balanced tip-up.  I added a buzzer circuit to the holder with magnetic reed switches at the top and bottom of the slot the rod rocks in.  I then taped a small rare earth magnet to the rod and when the rod nears the top or the bottom of the slot the reed switches make contact and the buzzer goes.  Very sensitive to light bites and can be adjusted by moving the magnet along the rod to avoid tripping from lively minnows.

Simple, lightweight, easy. Just a slit cut into a thin wall plastic pipe. I made one for each side, love them!

Here's a couple of rod holders I just built the other day with plans I found on this site.  The other one is the holders that I put in my center console that I built last year.

I made this a few years ago and shared the design in this thread. I use a small bungie cord to keep the legs from closing.

But I bought a couple of these(The Groove) to use inside my shelter. They clip onto the round tubes.

I use a pop-up shelter so the only thing I have to attach to are the chairs.  I like some of the other designs I've seen here on the various posts but I didn't want something "extra" to carry along.

Try ebay, and look for "da-hooker",  great rod holder for folding bag chairs.

A few items from HD. The pipe clamp and turn buckle attach to your rod and sit in the cut off elbow joints. The rod is amazingly balanced and provides little resistance as it tips down. If you don't glue all the joints, the holder will fold flat for storage.

What a long, strange trip it's been!

Great job guys! I love this homemade stuff, it get your mind a turning. Hey guys that cut the PVC for rod holders.
I know Princecraft cut some. What kind of power tools are you guys cutting them with? Especially the slots for
the poles to slide into. Here is the list of tool i have to use to make the cuts.
Circular saw (but I really like all my fingers)
Drill
Sawzall
4" electric grinder
small air die grinder
hack saw
Fish on!

Great ideas and workmanship guys!  One of my favorite parts of this forum is seeing the creativity.  Now if I could just find time to get into the garage and whip out some of the ideas that have been clouding my mind during work, I'd be happy!
