Rod for Pike Fishing
« on: Feb 15, 2010, 01:21 PM »
Looking to use the Pike Killa lure or other methods for Pike. I am looking for a decent rod to do the jigging. I doubt I will encounter a pike over 35-38 inches where I fish, but all me gear is panfish rated. Just wonder what options are out there....Thanks, Scott

Find yourself a medium heavy walleye rod or a lake trout rod.

Frabill Ice Hunter 38" rod.

I use a medium heavy rod with a large reel and #20 lb fireline.

It works great and I have taken some nice pike on this setup.

There's another player in town now.  St. Croix 34" Premier baitcasting rods.  I'm guessing I'll match it up with the Citica 200E reel.

44" Ice Blue heavy has been serving me well with an old, highly reliable Penn 740SS and 20# Fireline

I just got a Frabil Ice Hunter 32" med heavy rod. Should work well for pike and be a light version if I can venture out and try for lakers.....Thanks all, Scott
