Jigging Versus Tip - Ups
« on: Jan 16, 2004, 08:41 PM »
I am wondering, what usually produces more fish? Is it jigging or tip ups? In Fisherman used to teach a pike system based mostly on tip ups. They have pretty much now said that jigging usually outproduces tip ups. I would think jigging with a rod while having a tip up set out is the way to go, but which of these set ups usually produce the most fish?

I have found that a tip up catch's more pike. So now i just set tip ups for pike and jig for panfish.  There may be times were jigging may work better but i think the majority it is tip ups that produce more fish.

I think tip-ups are your best bet for consistantly catching big (+15 lbs.) fish.
