Title: Deep Creek ice?
Post by: bigsteelie on Nov 24, 2008, 06:35 AM
Anyone know if it has any safe ice yet?  Wondering if it has had a chance to lock up with all the wind.

There is just a little(about 1 foot) around the edges by the honi bar that I saw on a webcam.  Some of the coves may have a little more, but this is such a big lake that it will take a while.  The lake temp at the beginning of November was 52*, so it had a ways to go.

Thanks for the info.  All of this cold weather is giving me the ice fishing itch bad!  The rain they are forcasting today isn't going to help.

I drove by DCL on the way to hunt deer in WV on 11/23 and came home on 11/25.  The lake is still open.  The wind was going strong and had the waves rockin on Tuesday.  I did see ice on the little ponded area above the culvert on McHenry cove so I figure the main lake will follow shortly if the cold continues.  Other small lakes in the area had ice cover but did not look safe yet.

Patience.....patience.
