Hardwater Venison "Beer Deer"

2 or 3 good sized venison steaks, salt, pepper, garlic powder/pressed cloves, sliced onions, (1) 12 oz bottle of dark beer (Irish red works well too).

Rub steaks with spices, wrap and refrigerate for a day. Place steaks in crock pot/covered pan, pour beer into pan (not over the venison), and add enough water to nearly cover steaks. Cook for around 4 hours, or until meat is very tender. Serve on buttered and toasted hard rolls.

Cola pops and even coffee make great marinades for dark meat too, basically anything that is acidic.  For fish, chicken and pork I like to use citris juices like orange juice or lemon juice, 7-Up or white whine.
