My sister and I had slow day on the lake today having only iced a small Walleye and a small Sauger close to the mouth of the river. We crossed an ice ridge in the morning on the way out at a relatively flat spot. On our way back it had increased to 2' high and growing as evidenced by the cracking / clinking noises from the ice. There was no way we could have crossed it as it but luckily I carry an axe which we were able to use to take the sharp edges off. With that, I still bottomed the truck out on it when crossing with luckily no damage to the underside or running boards.
It pays off to be prepared.
There were a lot of people out today as suspected.
Tight lines!
