well my 5 year old son was not too keen on hitting the ice today so i had to pull ou the big guns. results...5 solid hours of fishing with barely a peep. my laptop/frabill nanny. i caught zilch, 8 y/o daughter got 2 big sunfish.

that is so awesome.  i can't wait til my boy is old enough to go out fishing with me.  he's only 7 weeks old, but i'm sure the time will fly and he'll be chasing flags with me.

thats what makes fishing fun. my son is 16mos old and i'm just itching to get him out on the ice, but the wife has put her foot down until he is a little older. i got him into watching all the hunting and fishing shows on tv, as well as on his kitty cat snowmobile. cant get enough of that(mo, mo, mo) his words for more. get those kids out there you never know you might just find you're next fishin' buddy.

slushy is an understatement...15+ inches of slush. about 18'' snow last weds, forcing the waterup out of every possble opening/crack in the ice. it was a mess.

keep those positive experiences going...cause let me tell you, one negative experience at these young formative ages leaves an everlasting impression. i've really had to coax my boy out on the ice. my daughter on the other hand...shes an ice junkie! good luck with the little one. it is really an awsome experience when your kid pulls that first fish out thru the ice.
