depth finders battery
« on: Dec 02, 2003, 08:48 PM »
Got a tip for a rechargable battery to use while ice fishing. If you have a 12 volt  power tool like a drill ,you have a battery. the battery will power your finder for a long time.  My finder has reverse polarity protection so if I wire it up wrong it won't hurt the unit. Just rigg wire up to match you battery and don't forget the fuse. It will work , Used it once last year, last time out.  got it ready for this year . and so recharable.   toph2o

Those batteries are a lot lighter too. I use my smaller cordless drill battery for a backup. its only 9.6 volts.
but its handy for those days I forget to charge my battery up.

Might be neat to rig up something semi-permanent and removeable for one of those batteries.

I have an 8-ft length of trailer light wire with battery terminal plugs on one end and alligator clips on the other to fit onto my snowmobile battery. Works great for emergency use or all day.

Just don't forget to out a fuse in between the battery and unit. Don't fry a unit for no reason.
