The forecast isn't calling for it to be this cold so it's great.  It is 2f in RS this morning and the forecast showed a low of 15 for last night. I hope they are wrong more often.   ;D

They said 40 for today in Casper and it's 30 right now so that's encouraging...no 40+ crap this week I hope.

Good thing about Keyhole, only a few inches of ice means 10 feet from shore = 15-25 FOW off the cliffs....which are all under water now. GET COLD BABY!!!

Hey Icefishur, last year totally SUCKED...lots of hours doing the normal routine thats worked in years passed, something changed...LOTS OF NEW WATER! This year should be good i think. Early ice is always the best there i think. Once there gets heavy snow on top of the ice, then game over. Its way too dark underneath. Best to hit it hard with clear ice and no snow cover.  Its a jiggin mans game, tipups have yielded very few flags and fish over the years, like a few flags ALL YEAR! Smelt is awesome for those cruising pike, and rattling spoons for those eyes and crappie. Just my .02, with over 20-30 days on the ice there.

Last year was slow for me as well, and this summer.  I put in my time and tried but made me question everything I thought I knew about fishing keyhole.  Yes it should get better with the higher water level.  The year before I fished at least a dozen different places until I had a good night and continued the sucsess untill ice out.  The year before that I did good by the rock walls on the north side but the ice was very inconsistant, 16 inches at one hole and 6 inches 50 feet away made me nervous.  Hopefully this year will be better ice with less snow and more fish.
