Cass pond had a layer off ice over it this morning on the way to school. The geese were all out there walking on it. It wont be long now, not warming up for a while

The pond on my street is completely covered all day. the depth isaround 5 feet or so ,but theres picks,sunfish...looks like I'll be testin the edge on sat. maybe some early jiggin on sunday

Flik,

Its going to be in the mid-forties all week next week and will rain a few times as well.

Theres been ice in northen RI just about all week, but most ponds have skim ice overnight which breaks up over the day and re-forms at night. So your right... it will be here in no time!

I've seen a few coves with nice sheets of ice on them. One in particular was so thick that when I was standing 10 feet above water level and tossed my trap out it just bounced right off the ice. My 1500 gal. koi pond also got 1" in on it in 2 days... good sign for things to come.

Time to start thinking of some high elevation ponds to check out over the next couple of weeks.

I happen to stumble across a nice little "cove" this morning, which was completely covered by about an inch of ice. It's supposed to stay cold at night throughout the holiday week, so hopefully we're fishing well before Christmas.

Got rid of my pick-up... so I'd better get attaching roof racks to my car for my sled!

Dip lets see a pic of your hair, ask flik if he'll be home tomorrow morning I am gonna swing by an drop off my Jiffy auger for a tune up ,an also my snowblower (it won't start) on the way to Bass Pro ..... Went by Wilson's pond at noon an it can't ice over with this wind ,need a calm nite.... tomorrow maybe I'll go by Wakefeild pond

Hi guys,

Went out with THASS and checked all the local ponds today. We found a few that we could walk out on but only where the water is shallow. Looks like we might be able to go out by this weekend. Two of my boys skated today on one of our local shiner ponds. Might be time to start chopping some holes and setting some traps. Cant wait to see the new hair-do Jake. See you soon!!!!!!!!

Thanks for the report ComeonNow.

Tightline (Billy) and I check out a bunch of the local northern ponds today. Basically all coves and small ponds sheltered from the wind were iced over... some are showing promise. We found a solid 1" in North Smithfield on a small pond completely iced over. It could only support about half of your weight at shore, but is looking nice. (We can pray its colder than they are thinking and doesn't rain as much.)

Another place is to deep to even test but was comming along well also. Was only about 1/2" up to rock ledge, but we tossed a couple 8-15 foot logs probaly in the 80-125lb range from about 8 feet above the water and neither broke through.... promising.

went to the not so secret cove and there was 2"of ice! i walk out a bout three steps but my dad was in a hurry so i didn't stay for long enough to get the jigging rod out.

I checked out a few spots this morning... Small bodies and coves of bigger lakes are comming along very well. Lets just hope it gets VERY cold at night this week and can at least recover during the night what they will lose during the day. Im keeping my fingers crossed to be out there in 2 weeks.. but that may be wishful thinking.
