Has anyone every used the molds and poured their own Hali Jigs? At 5 bucks a pop it wouldn’t take long to pay for itself

Never made halis, but pour my own round head, wobble and pony head jigs, it's not hard and make 7 and the jigs paid for. Been looking at that mold myself.

Making them from a lead casting spoon mold and then cutting the sides down to make 'em slender.  Some paint from Hobby Lobby, fine metal chain from JoAnne Fabrics,  prism tape via Cabelas, hooks, and you're off and running. They read well on a flasher too.

Probably 3/16" but could take more depending how big a Hali you want. Easy to do with a pair of side cutters and a file to smooth things out.

Yes they are, I've been using them this year. Only found a couple of colors though.

Yes, get my paint and jig hooks from there, also looking into a melting pot.

This sounds like fun and brings back fond memories of my brief, 3-year stint of paddlefishing.  My buddy and I poured our own sinkers...saved a lot of money and had a blast doing it.  In case you're not already doing this, check with the mechanics and garages in your area.  Like we discovered, you can get an awful lot of lead for free, if you're willing to sort through buckets of old tire balancing weights, some of which aren't lead.

Its fun, like having a endless supply of jigs in colors and sizes I want. I've used wheel weights before.

Search around on ebay. I found these small jigs for saltwater that shipped direct from china for like .40 a piece.

I took of the large bucktail and treble and put on my own droppers.

I've seen those, I enjoy making my own, nice feeling to catch fish on something you've made.

So I took the plunge and on a whim bought the 4-size casting spoon that Jann's offered, as well as the lead melting pot.  I'm pretty darn excited about this new craft; catching pike on big-ole streamers I tie is a passion of mine and this is of the same vein.

For those of you who pour and paint your own, do you go the UV approach?  And if so, do you use a paint that emits light after a charge like...

Or do you use something like this UV product that reflects UV light?

Thanks for the information fellas, much appreciated! And I'm not sure where the post went, but in regards to the suggestion of tying top-water for pike, are you talking poppers or more in the realm of hair-head style ties?  A buddy of mine uses a buoyant, muddler style head with a long tail of a bunch of flashabou and that seems to work well for him.  I tie my own poppers for bass and bluegill, just never tried it out on pike...sounds like a great time to me.
