"The Shanty Has Landed"
« on: Jan 04, 2009, 03:31 PM »
YeeHaw! Put the shanty out this afternoon with little trouble, all anchored and ready to rumble. Drs. appoint tomorrow morning but i will be out late morning early afternoon for my first hardwater fishing of 2009! 3 shacks out on the bay so far with 8" of ice, I am the one closest to the bandstand as of today, come visit, set for a spell.

Yesterday was second time out and was a great day! late start but jigged up a big fat laker for the first time in the shack, sure was great to see him flopping around on the floor. He was onty 24" but chunky and broke the tip off my jig rod! best fun i've had with my pants on!.

Yay, the shack is out, Im not to far from from you riverrat, just a little bit farther out. It is the gray one on wheels, it started life as a pop up camper but after i started to gut it out i ended up with just a frame so i built up from there. Tomorrow will be the official start of my ice fishing season. Ill have to stop in someday and say hi, and the door is always open to anybody wanting to stop in. tight lines to all

Hey johnnyrottendadto4, I do believe I know the one you're talking about, looks like a good spot, good luck. Great day today, no trout but plenty flags, good neighbors and I shared venison meatloaf with my neighbors and they shared some venison tips with me and it was just a great day .

I fished alton bay on sat,and that must be what a dog and pony show looks like,
got out at five thirty started marking a few fish on the fish finder right away, and caght two togue right before the sun came up, and then it began, the people driving pickups towing camps, the kids riding snowmachines around and around.  i quit when the helicopter landed on the ice  ???

Riverat, good gob on getting your shack out and awesome job on putting it over some biting fish.

James, most access points on winni are carnival like in nature. Almost like a faire on ice. Irritating to us but exciting to them. Don't they know if they are not drilling holes to fish, a lake is equal to a parking lot that has not been plowed?  ::)

it must be an old picture
when chuck norris played golf for money, chuck marked down a hole in zero every time, the golf pro said, "chuck: you can't score zero on a hole." Chuck norris turned towards the man and said, "I'm chuck norris, the man proceeded to pour gas over his body and set himself on fire because that would be less painful than getting roundhouse kicked by chuck norris....chuck norris roundhouse kicked him in the face anyways

Yup I find alton bay sucks because its extremely easy access to vehicles and the snowmobile trail comes onto the ice there. I will be launching out of the Bay sunday/ monday but going out and around the bend  ;D I bet those of you that fish alton bay love it when they plow the runway...that must really suck!!! Good job on managing to catch some nice lakers guys.

RIFish Wassup? I am couple hundred feet over to the right from last year, less salmon more lakers and perch = more action. Nice neighborhood. Can't wait to hang with you guys at derby time. We got a solid foot of ice where I'm at and there driving almost out to where your castle would be, and it's just gonna get thicker from here on in. See you in a few weeks. I heard they are not bothering with the runway this year, but I do not know for sure or if it is ok to set up there if they don't. No one has made an effort to plow or land a plane, the ossipee valley aviation website seems to be gone and no info can be found and it is not mention in the law book either. Waiting to see a CO and ask him if it is ok, lots of prime territory over there.

Looking at the Alton Web Cam, it looks like an airstrip is being plowed right now.
