To fish or not to fish...is a stupid question

How do you store your fish?
I put the freshly cleaned and rinsed fillets in a ziplock bag and fill with water, squeeze out the air, then freeze the bag. It seems they keep longer without freezer burn or absorbing that nasty freezer odor. Yes freezer odor, even in a clean freezer.
How about you?

I do the same thing Except for instead of a bag I use a cardboard milk jug. I've kept smelt like this for three years and they still tasted good. just fill the milk jug to the top and staple it shut. Their also easier to store you can stack them a lot easier then bags.

To stack better I lay the bags in the freezer on a cookie sheet or flat surface until frozen.

We put our fillets in a margerine container cover with water and freeze.the margerine containers stack better in the freezer and are easily labled for use later.

For the most part I try to only keep enuff fish to eat within the next day or so. I find that too often I would throw some fish in the freezer and forget about it.
When I did keep extra fish I used the water method until i picked up my vaccum sealer..both methods worked well

Put my filets on a teflon coated cookie sheet in the freezer until they start to freeze, then into the Foodsaver vac and that's it. I used to use the water method, but it took up too much room in the freezer. Can't see any difference in quality between the two methods.

I use typically the same way but I put the fish in a plastic bag, with my sink half full of water, i put that plastic bag under water just to get the air out and then I close it. Then I put it in another bag and fill that one with water. I used to put the water in with the fish but I found trhat the fish would get a watery taste. This way i hjave kept fish frozen for a couple of years(forgot it was there) and it was as good a freshly caught.

I dry the fillets off then wrap with Freezer Press-n-Seal. I then put them in a Ziploc freezer bag. I've had fish in the freezer for over a year (forgot about them) and they still tasted excellent with no freezer burn.

i also do the poor mans vacum sealer with the zip lock bags. keeps them flat for the freezer and they will last a long time with no air.

A buddy of mine suggested freezing the fish in milk instead of water. I tried it and was pleased with the results.

I used to use the water method but it was always a hassle. Vacuum sealer works great and is a lot less of a hassle, takes up less space, and I don't have to worry about leaking bags.
On that same note, has anyone ever tried putting fresh herbs in with their fish before freezing?

I use poor mans vacuum method too. Water, although not horrible, is not recommended for fish to be soaked in. I learned this when I took a trip to the Foley's Fish plant in Boston while I worked as a Chef for Real Seafood Co. about 7 years ago. But like I stated it is not the worst thing you can do to your filet's.
