Well the wind finally layed down a bit yesterday about 5pm.  That was all it took, we were goose hunting and watched our small lake literally cap over in about 30 minutes.  It was cool to watch! Woke today and even the big stuff locked up. Gonna drive today and check some NE lakes and spud some holes and will get back with some thickness reports later today.  Should be some good solid black ice with out all that snow crap mixed in.
will keep ya updated

It was happening Sat morning with the wind in the marsh where I was duck hunting.  There was a 20' open hole when I got there and by 9:20 it had almost glazed over.  Decoys had a 6" ring of ice on them.
