Met a lot of new friends, and shared ideas, & learned a lot of new ones. It also made me feel sorry for all you guys that live down south & other states who have been havin a bad ice year. Wish I could send you guys some safe ice. 
I give you guys a lot of credit that travel hrs. every week to fish, but then if I were in you shoes I'am sure I'd be right behind you every week. It's just in our blood. Thanks IS.

IceShanty means a lot to me after moving to california i can check on my old spots in central new york and LIVE THRU YOUR AWSOME POSTS!!!!!  HAVENT FISHED HARD WATER IN 2 YEARS!! hope to get out this sat. Friends told me abuot the site several years ago just got a comp. @christmas and have been on IS since THANK YOU MUCH!!

Too much too list, but all of the above. It keeps me informed with new treands, lakes back in my home province and my new one. It also gives me a place to escape to when I can not make it to the lake, like tomorrow, cause it will be -40 below zero! See you all in the morning!!!

Opening your mind to fishing in new ways
Staying current on equipment & electronics :thumbsup:
Living vicariously though other IS members when you have to work :P
Oh yeah...addiction

Unfortunately I haven't met any IS friends  on the ice :( In fact I haven't met anyone yet. That is mostly my fault though because I have limited myself to certain lakes this year. That will change

same as everyone else. found by accident. love to help others. love the posts and photos from folks who have enough ice to fish on. so many people from all walks of life, all levels of education, sharing the same sport.on an elevator, they wouldn't even make  eye contact. on the ice, we're like brothers.

It makes my broadband bill worthwhile!! I check it out every nite and find myself fishing more since being on it.I have met several members and great to talk fishin on the ice with them.

This site has provided an outlet for the frustration of a "mild" winter, with unsafe ice.  If I cant go, I might as well enjoy other peoples stories.  The information contained on this site is more valuable and real world than a subscription to all those outdoor magazines.

iceshanty to me means....
a place where you can learn new info, give other people new info, meet some new friends, maybe see someone out on the lake and it turns out they are a member on here.

Wow, great responses! Makes it all worth while to see replies like that. All the reasons stated is why I built this site and will continue to work hard to keep it up and going for a long time to come.

Iceshanty allows me to see other poeples environments and the tricks they have to learn to excel in there areas and use these tricks to make me a better fisherman. 

It has also made me curious about other species of fish, and in turn has expanded my fishing horizons.

Joined iceshanty last winter, I normally fish for walleye,  i trekked out last year and caught my first bunch of brook trout and really enjoyed that.   this year I caught my first 2 lake trout, first pile of ling.

I am a better and more rounded fisherman because of iceshanty.

its my first year ice fishing and i would have probably gave up if it wasnt for iceshanty.com way to go guys  :thumbsup: now im a hardwater addict :bow: great tips and info on the site to many good things to say way to go!!!!! :clap: :thumbsup: :bow:
