Neither one would be my first unless you are heavily into the Ryobi platform ..with the 4ah batteries or better .

Me personally if your starting from scratch and have no batteries I would stay clear of these drills and buy a Dewalt or Milwaukee you'll thank me later. Just make sure it's one of the right models. I smoked a Dewalt 700 series trying to spin a 7 inch auger

I made most of all the missteps you can make with building a cordless set up ..my DCD771 w/2 ah battery got smoked w/6" SM lazer hand auger years back back to back holes . The list below is my go to ...buy once cry once

The Clam Plate with Gear Drive may make my list a lil obsolete ..not much milage or reviews on that item to be definitive
