Whats the price for LP in your area?
« on: Nov 19, 2015, 08:24 PM »
paid 60 cents a pound. buying the one pound tanks is such a rip.
what a deal what a steal!
filled up the 20# can so the 1# cans get fuller with out messing with the over fill/safety valves.

as i thought, there was gas (5 pounds) still left in the 20 pound tank, so 15 pounds was 9$.

DANG !     Very good price, 3300.

Just last week the truck topped off my huge tank for $1.30/gal.     But, I'm a long way from civilization and greed. lol

I saw it weights 4.11 pounds per gallon, so, less than $0.32 per #.    :woot:

That makes me warm.    :roflmao:

I just paid $1100 for just over 1500 liters (about 400 gallons (1,680 #'s)) for the house.
Works out to $2.77 Canadian ($2.08 US) a gallon.
@ 4.2 pounds per gallon that works out to $0.66 CAD or $0.495 US per pound.   ;D

Filled up all my green 1lb tanks today. I fill three milk crates and it covers me for quite awhile. Running three short though. 3 cans didn't make the cut to refill.

Karma was good today, dropped my two 20lb tanks off today to get topped off. Both were about 1/2 full. Guy filled them and told me no charge since I donated a bunch of walleye fillets to the fish fry fundraiser they do to help those in need.

Wow, that's a big load of fuel, Dave.

For the season or will you need a few refills?

Is there a chance you have more gravity in NWT ?

Or, it could be Wikipedia hasn't done the math or needs adjust their scale, being 0.09 pounds less than your gallon, at 4.11 #/gal., hm ?

No worries, I'm sure you received good value.    ;)2

good job on getting it for 60 cents a point I think I paid about .89 cents a pound for the propane I use.. there are a few places around here to get the tank filled but I just use the blue rhino tank filling exchange services 17.88 to exchange a tank for a full one..   if up north head to the gas station and exchange it out if need be I use the bulk tank to run my heater so no big worries.. looked at the refill adaptors at gander mtn tonight thinking of starting to refill the one pounders my self will see...

I buy mine at our local UHaul place.
Not sure what it is now.
But one tip to save money is they give bulk volume discounts.
Over 11 gallons saves me like 10 cents a gallon.
Over 20 is a bigger discount etc.
So if I bring in my 3-20# tanks and my little one I usually get the discount.
Any little bit helps.

I use about $2000 worth of propane a year.
Works out to about $167/mo.
I don't have AC so don't have that expense (would only really need it for a week or two a year anyway).  ;)
Pretty sure I'm pretty close to what a lot of people much further South pay for heat and AC per year.   ;)2
When I was living in Ft. Smith on the South side of Great Slave I was heating with oil. That was freaking expensive!!!!
Was costing up to $600/mo during the coldest months. Jan and Feb were $1200 for heat. :%$#!:
Here I get 1/2 Oct-late Feb early March for the same $$$$$.   ;D

I'm hooked up to natural gas, which isn't bad. However a few years ago prices were freaking nuts because of ethanol plants using it, and new lines going in. I ran a few electric heaters then and saved like $80-$100 a month. Glad it's back down to being cheap!

Paid 8 bucks for 20 pounds last weekend in Northeastern Wisconsin.  If you have any Amish settlements in your area and they have a grocery store or sell propane check them out.  They are by far the cheapest around and that's where I go.

Have two 100 gallon tanks at our cottage in PA . They were empty, first fill up was $0.99 per gallon and the rest of the year will be $1.79. Guess it will average at $1.39 if I only use one fill up at the higher price. Didn't know any better as I have always had natural gas for heat.
