The fish will not see your line as easy with a flourocarbon leader.

I use a 14lb test floro leader on half of my tip ups for the last few weeks and I feel like I am getting more flags with them. I will be switching all of my tip ups over this weekend. I will be going to 20 or 25 lb leader because I have been getting broke off quite a bit with the 14lb.

flouro has very minimal stretch, and has virtually same light transmissivity as water...index of 1.0...theoretically making it " invisible".

extremely low visibility, low stretch, and high abrasion resistance

Stealth is the main benefit as some fish are leader shy. Some do well without it, for me it has become a standard.

Abrasion is my main reason,i had broke off with big bass on "ice line" mostly due to stretch so for the past 3 years always flouro.STRONG LIKE BULL!

That's a real good experiment for someone that may be skeptical about the fluoro.

I love light setups so I run 6lb except on my larger tipups for pike, which I run 12lb

Floro also sinks as opposed to mono which wants to float.
