Does the DEC use those there? They do here, but normally don't land on lakes. They just take video and pics.

Saturday we had to contend with a hover craft that kept circling us.  There we're only a couple of fishermen on the entire lake and they had to circle us.....If I had a regular pole I might have lobbed a shad rap in their direction......how rude!

Hey, same darn thing happened to me today. Guy dropped this Piper Cub right down my trap line (actually bounced out of a couple of holes that I just pulled traps from) to land on the lake to visit his brother, who lived on the lake. Scared the c^*# out of me because I heard the plane behind me, behind some tall pines, the he popped over the trees and planted it on the pond, I thought he was crash landing!

A friend and I used to ice fish with his plane once in a while. Kinda fun. A lot of people used to wonder why we did it. ;D

We had it happen to us a couple weeks ago.  Three different planes flew in.  They were friendly though, stopped by to visit.  My 7 year old boy was with us.  It made his day.

Pretty neat stuff there billditrite. Here is a result of a careless flyboy on the ice.

Last week there were 2 four wheelers on the ice with us. They finally wrecked each other somehow, and they limped off the ice leaving us in quiet again.

Get me that guys number! I know a few great lakes up in N. Maine and that is the way to get there this time of year.
We had one land on the RIO resivoir about a month ago but he was in an emergency and it just about sunk. Imagine the luck of avoiding a crash and then going under! :-[

I'm not sure where this accident happened. I thought maybe it was Wiconsin due to the wi in the url. The pic. was taken off a site with a ton of plane mishaps.

I fly on "bush planes" in northern Canada in the summer that land on the water.  They say they convert them to skis for the winter (which is quite long up there) and land on the same lakes!  Of course they can go months at a time without getting above 0 degrees F so they get lots of ice.

In Alaska those are very common as you would guess.  But get this, I was fishing on a lake last week that does not allow the use of motorized vehicles such as boats with motors, snowmobiles, four wheelers, etc..  BUT, it allows the use of float planes and planes with skiis in the winter!  Makes no sense to me (unless the FAA controls the lake).  I was checked by the State Troopers that day for my fishing license and we talked for a while.  He did not understand why either.  Those with the planes have the money to influence the rule makers I guess.  I'm glad the trooper didn't say anything about my power auger.

I've wondered about the power auger angle and legality issue on the no motors allowed lakes icy mike. Just afraid to pursue it for fear that it is illegal. Somethings are best just left alone i guess.   ;)
