The luck usually averages out Trap. Nice catch.   My son and I got out for eyes the past two pms. Last night we didn’t mark many and landed 3 total. Tonight there were more fish around. I landed 3 and he got 2. There was about 15 inches of ice where we were and the snow on top is melting down and firming up. The warmth in the forecast is not looking too good for the ice.

Thx guys. Even blind squirrels find nuts sometimes.  Fish have been fussy. Downsizing seemed to help last night

Never hear of sheepshead being caught through the ice. What are the sheepies up to during the winter? Maybe some of those marks that show no interest in biting?

Yep. Definitely some of them. I put the camera down at LP earlier this year and when the screen would fill up on the sonar it was hundreds of sheepies. The sheep never reacted to the bait but there were a few eyes and a pickerel traveling with them that did. They must react once in a while though because I have caught a couple.

Thanks Chowdaire, I don't have a camera but that confirms my suspicions. Zombie Sheep.

I've used my camera at LP before to see what all those marks and just as you said it was a school of  sheepheads with Walleye mixed in and as  the school passed we'd catch a few eyes. Seems like they would pick thru what the sheephead stirred up

My thoughts and prayers are with you Big Jimmy.

I got out for couple hours late morning and again for last couple hours before dark. Beautiful day to be out. Fishing was crap for me today. One pin pike and lost a keeper on the way up. Back at it tomorrow

2 of us got out tonight. My son was hooked up and landed a keeper within a minute on his first drop. I thought we were in for a great night. Kiss of death!!  He had dropped one other and I never got a hit. I checked out several spots and marked very few tonight. Tough night. The top was getting mushy and there was some water on top in spots on the ride in. I’m not liking the forecast!!  Too warm for February l

Got out this evening. First spot was a bust so made a quick move. Got a few marks and landed one keeper eye then lost a slob at the hole. Was heaviest eye I’ve hooked all winter. I was on 16 inches of ice. Was a little wet on way in. Should firm up for the weekend then it’s  anyone’s guess next week with the warm temps coming.
