Night ice fishing and attracting lights.
« on: Nov 29, 2003, 10:44 PM »
Howdy all,

Sorry to ask such a novice question, for my first post on the forum.

I am very new to ice fishing and was wondering if folks fish throughout the night.

If so, are the drop down attractor lights used at all?  I've used them for open water fishing and don't know why they wouldn't work under the ice.

Thanks,
Don "AJ" Peacock

Well I am sure the responses will reassure you that night fishing actually can be very productive. As far as the lights I have not personally used them, But I usually fish very shallow at night where a latern is goood enough. Good luck.

Hey Don, are you gonna be fishing Lake Nepessing? i wanted to get out there last year.................. ..but ran out of time. Seems like I drove by one day during work, there musta been 20 vehicles and thirty shacks right out in the middle. Musta been somethin' bitin' around that sunken island. I live in flushing, maybe i'll see ya out there one day.

i use the submersible lights for night time crappie fishing.
they work very well for attracting plankton and minnows.
which in turn attracts crappies . i can sometimes watch the crappie come up and take my minnow if i look down the hole while dropping it.   :'(

Hank,

I plan on fishing lake Nepessing this winter.  We should try to hook up an meet out there. I'm also going to focus on Halloway lake, as I've heard that it has the largest population of walleye/acre of any lake in the state.  I'd sure like to get into some eyes out there.  Drop me an email sometime.

Don
