Just took delivery of a Noodle rod and waiting for cargo net for the hut. I am slowly getting ready for first ice.

After it gets way to cold to be in a boat chasing  fall/winter steelhead i will be ready to sit in a warm shanty on the ice.

Going to be 17 over night Thursday here. Been having high 20's to low 30's every morning lately.

The anticipation is what gets me...having to wait for that first freeze and THEN wait for consecutive days of below freezing temp to get good safe ice!

Here in the northeast it can take awhile, some years as late as January.....

i still have 2 months of walleye fishing in the river to do.  although it appears the river is going to fight that all the way into december.
