I try to mix the filets in with other fish now and then and always get a negative feedback. Now I take a picture and if its big enough and but it on my wallpaper picture on my phone, then send him back for another time I hope.

Stocker trout = yuck. You might as well eat a fish out of your aquarium...

I dont eat "Green Carp"    Bass

Make that GREEN STRIPED CARP.

I tried eating bass at my brothers ONCE to be polite. Only took one bite that I had a hard time swallowing. Luckily his son shared part of the brown trout he caught when were fishing the day before.

I gave my brother a couple pound bags of yellow perch fillets. His wife thought they were too fishy tasting even when she made my brother skin them before frying. Yet she thinks green striped carp are great.

I never said my Sis/In/Law was ALL THERE.

I've had smallmouth through the ice and they are pretty good... They're no walleye or perch but they are edible.. Large mouth taste like Manure no matter what time of the year it is..

I've tried smaller ones in the 12"-14" size and they were OK, but don't keep any as I prefer the panfish. I do know some ponds that are overrun with small largemouths that could stand to have some serious thinning done.

I think it can depend on what lake/reservoir they come out of...The one's I fish, the bass are delicious.. fried..any way you want. One of my favorite is blackened in a cast iron skillet with butter and your favorite spices. Out of these lakes I will take 15" bass over crappie all day long..to eat. The bass I'm eating most of the time come out of lakes with no shad??

Unfortunately, we're not allowed to keep Bass here in N.Y. during the ice season.... I wish we could!!
Personally, I'm not particularly fond of many species of fish during warm water periods, but this time of year, most are very palatable, Bass most definetly included, IMO.
you can if you fish in the Finger Lakes, just learned that this year DEC website. oh and I do love the taste of bass cooked properly.

i mix in iced largemouth (smaller 12-15" fish) with walleye and sauger regularly.  I've fed more bass to walleye/perch only guys who have no idea and loved it.  its hilarious.  we do regular fish frys and i'm not feeding these guys all my eyes.

we were discussing it a few years ago and one guy was going on and on about how much better this was than the bass his other buddy had them try.  i could tell just by looking at his fillets they were bass that he was munchin on.

my wife is in the kitchen rolling.

i soak em in salt water like all my fish, and shake em up with frying magic....thats it.

my buddy tried to do the same with me. though he mixed in sheephead in with the eyes....he asked if i could tell a difference afterwards, and i showed him my plate that had 2 fillets with a bite out of them.  i assume these ones that tasted like dirt were the sheepies.

They're a blast on a panfish rod but I have no desire to eat them, we only keep crappie and perch, and usually only enough for a fresh meal. I'm sure they're good to eat but those summer bass guys value them a whole lot more released than I would for a meal. We saltwater fish all summer and that's what stocks up my freezer, maybe I'd feel differently if I didn't.

I quite a few pics of bass, that people take home. Just curious how many of you actually eat them. While I agree that they are a great sport fish to catch, personally do not care for their taste. I think they're the only fish that I do not eat actually. Not trying to start a debate, or criticize others, just collecting a poll, I guess.

i eat most every kind of fish that i can get my slimy hands on.  everything from a nice fat rock bass to a beautiful walleye.  as far as bass go either smallmouth or large either ones i like them broiled with some butter and lemon pepper or montreal steak seasonings.  i also like them big beautiful fillets in a nice beer batter and deep fried.  just me...but i just cant say  no thank you to mother natures goods

I'm not against eating them in winter, and maybe I'll keep one or two this year. But I'd much rather eat a panfish or perch than a largemouth. Plus the size that's perfect for eating makes me want to throw them back so I can catch them again in spring when they put on some weight  :P

Ontario has so many lakes that hold bass.  I notice a taste difference between certain lakes.  I have tasted strong and mild ... and in one lake in particular, they almost tasted like chicken LOL.
Fresh bass = perfect eating .  Frozen bass cooked later = less than perfect  IMO
just my 2 cents
