I only got 5 days in December(bonus) 10 days out january and 6 days out in February, that's only 21 days, shoot did 40 days last yr and 30 plus days the yr we only had 7 weeks of ice...  my normal is 36-40 days, way off this yr, hate too say it...I'll take a milder thinner ice yr any day.  These long winters come with added head aches and big bills.
I hear ya Shane. Been working more then fishing this year. It sucks. >:( Heading to Maine in a few weeks. Looks like I will bring snow shoes with me . ::)

It was an Epic day on the lake today.  Ice 75 keepers by 6:20....................  Just Kidding. LOL.   I did get a limit but they were 6 inches, 13 inches and 14 7/8.   Overall it was a very slow day.  Still better than being in work.  Oh well.  On to soft water...

Epic day, 75! almost fainted...  but it looks like you stumbled on to my spot. ;D

Work and all the other stuff that gets in the way of fishing has kept me off more than normal too.
That's probably why I still go when I'm sick or shouldn't.  Only fished Oneida 19 days, sandy pond twice, & chaumont once.  Guess that's why im looking forward to late ice, and stay out longer.
Still all the rough days wouldn't trade them for the best days at work.

Look at the radar.  Rain has been creeping into western NY for the last 2 hrs. Making it to the finger lakes.
Accumulations are limited tonight, but it'll be here in force tmro morning.
If you don't have a snowmobile, compass, and know the lake real well I wouldn't be out there.

yep thats is true in my case can't speak for the snag, but that was snags spot and 1 day out of how many  :woot: we didn't give up and go to  [bacon wrap city] snag and I take turns picking , the next pick is all yours so study your chip  ;)it's all good  ;D

thanks bud.....it's tough lettin that striped gold swim back down the hole but I just enjoy the catch sometimes......questio n to all you guys, how long do you think it takes for a perch to get his/her bearings and go in the feed again after being caught and released ???....just curious
I caught a small perch today. I was dropping my jig back down the hole as I released  the fish. He nailed my jig before it got down the hole.

I just came in from Taft at 19:00. There's a good 2-4" of slush most everywhere. I've been out walking every weekend so far, regardless of the weather conditions, but I can't imagine that slush with 12" of heavy snow dumped on it. Sure hope the weather surprises everybody in a good way. Fingers crossed

Bite was slow. Took a lot of moves to find perch. Finally got a few nice jumbos and a burbot. Never even marked anything that looked like a walleye in 4+ hours.

What Scout 57 said. Hey wait a minute, I'm an old retired fart too.  ;D

Tank glad to see you're up to your old tricks. Congrats on that spec, that's a heck of a fish especially out of northern waters.

Fished south shore today, no eyes and only a few jumbos. Perch were so damn finicky they wouldn't even hit the special lures I got from Cloud Manufacturing !!!!!!  However, this smallie was pretty fond of DC's creation. Little over 18" of pure muscle, hell of a fight.

That's a real nice looking crappie! Love catching them through the ice. I've been going south of onieda myself from time to time for them at night. My best so far this year is a hair over 13".

Weather underground is saying for Syracuse 8-12 Wednesday during the day then 5-8 Wednesday night into Thursday. Hope they are being a bit sensational with this storm. Cracks were getting sloppy past few days. Time to bust out the spud again.

this is off a weather blog I pay attention too on facebook.  Blizzard of 1977 in Buffalo occured because of a frozen lake Erie.

I wonder if NWS Buffalo and NWS Binghamton will issue some kind of Blizzard statement for the counties east and southeast of Lake Ontario tomorrow into tomorrow night. Those north winds will be very gusty. With all that ice on the east end of the Lake, a lot of snow will fall on it..... winds could pick it up and deposit it east and south southeast, could make for an interesting situation.

The predicted snow totals are heavy for the northern areas(north of Oneida lake)  but 12- 14 inches on top of some open water spots could start to get dangerous.  Any fish being caught behind Vellas in Cleveland?
