I think the best way to tell would be to watch them on an under water camera and see how they react.

Ah, yes...but how would one drill the hole to drop the camera down?  ??? ;D

Bonefish are not like walleye or perch. You're fishing pretty skinny water for bones and are sight fishing. Same with tailing redfish. Not even close to a comparison.
I guess walleye and perch don't have  lateral line .
 maybe this article helps

The thinner the ice, the more anxious is everyone to see whether it will bear.

http://m.startribune.com/?id=247930691 could be good or bad. Depending on the fisheries in question.

Most things like this come with an unforeseen or unintended consequence.  Regardless of what small scale tests may show in a tank, how dumping enough bacteria in the water to kill that many mussels doesn't exactly sound like a good idea.

That sorta logic just reminded me of

True. Guess you would have to spend the night on a warm night. Then you don't have to worry about sneaking into your spot either!

That's ok its been a banner year!
I have enough for the freezer.  Will be icing more for the next month.  Just back down the hole they go.
Its their striped cousins I'm after now anyway.  Miss the can't fit them all in a bucket days.  End of eye season means those days are coming.....
That being said I did make sure to put on my schedule at work I am off next saturday

You couldn't catch a cold if you ran around wet in European ball baggers in January let alone a walleye

I'd certainly trust snaggers opinion over mine, but with temps at freezing or slightly better thurs-sat and a little sun on saturday to warm the rocks and riverbed.  I'd guess the steelie bite maybe best saturday afternoon and evening.

Thinking more next weekend, catch the last 3 days of walleye, fish for steelies for a few hrs. sunday morning. Rather be on the ice than the river this time of year.

Lateral line, smateral line......we don't fish perch or walleye in inches of water. It does make a difference.
