you are correct. i love oneida and the fishing there but there are other opportunities out there for sure. hate to say it but even with the thick ice the clock is ticking when it comes to the ice fishing stuff. pushing towards march now boys and girls. i am going right back tomorrow where i left those fish and filling the freezer with perch ;)

Decided to try the afternoon bite today. Didn't find any fish, but at least I changed to pack boots today so I stayed dry. Easiest drag in weeks and great weather made it a relaxing outing.

No decent fish so here's the sunset. Lake is shaping up nicely if the snow stays away.

Fished this afternoon out of Taft. Slow bite to start. Only water on the ice,  was starting to skim over when I left. Looks like it should set up nicely. However lots and lots of ruts.

Anyone know how pressure crack at chapman park is ? Finally ready to give her a go. Went last weekend in 16 inches of hell and took a week to recover. This will be the last year walking for me . I know there's a lot people ready to get back on the ice. Good luck everyone

The sky rats just landed about 75' from me eating one someone left out here yest.
Most have no idea how good they are!
Can't say it enough NH & maine guys specifically target them for derbies and eating.  They often stay out all night trying to catch them.  Here guys throw em on the ice  >:(

Shame, people kill them back home too. Saw a pickerel and a few gills that were dumped in the snow bank at the marina on Big Bay today - such a waste. Makes me wonder why people like that even bother to fish.

As for me, I picked up this slob today and boiled him in oil for assaulting my jig. This one hadn't spawned yet.

Good Luck & Good Fishing!

went out today in the AM I stayed on top most of the time going out then it warmed up and there was anywhere from 3-6" of crap[water, slush]  , did a few perch in the morning and then went on a recon looking for other places to fish later in the week, after a few hours of that I splashed my way back to the morning spot and caught a few more for a total of 20,18 were very nice with 2 on the small side 9-9.5" the fish are full of mayfly larvae and shrimp , you could look down the hole and see shrimp swimming around , again today had to tickle them up , after a couple of cold days the the slop will be froze up , wheelers got around better than the sleds today IMO,, now after the refreeze there will be about 23" of ice well at least in the places of the north shore I fished , I covered about 4 miles of it today, HT well done
nice haul Kingfisher, you picked the right day for the boat

Fished  William's this morning---8--10 people about 100yds. out, only like 4 or5 of us halfway to the Island.  Walking was awful!  On the way in  much better in my opinion  ( I broke through on every step--which was a pain but at least you could keep up  some sort of pace.  Saw 2 bass, 1 walleye  and several small groups of decent perch (8-10 in a group).  No takers they would look like they wanted to strike but ended up posing for the camera.  Maybe around Wed. if the ice firms up!  Good luck!!        Gunner

Last night temp dropped below freezing as soon as sun went down.  18 degrees right now, and we picked up a quick inch about an hour ago when a burst came through at Lewis pt.
Have to think most of that crap has stiffened up.

Fished midlake yesterday morning until noon. Forgot my vex battery and thought about just turning around but they were there last week so figured I'd stick it out. Two minnow rods and a big sonar on the third. Ended up with 22 perch and several throw backs. Quality was very good. Two friends with flashers did half as many each. I still wish I had the flasher. They moved around more looking for the motherload while I sat tight in the original holes and took what they gave me. Three on the sonar and the remainder on big fatheads with just a hook and bigger splitshot. A 5lb pickeral and a burbot rounded out the morning. No eye in the 22' depth I was in. Travel on sleds was OK just carved a wet path.

About 2" of snow so far here and still snowing. 20 degrees now so that slop should be hardened up.

National weather service upped the totals, didn't see this coming.

So that means 18-24 inches for Fulton area or something? We got 2 inches here in Cleveland today, gonna try a lake run to work on the sled, the trails are screwed.

The wind is whipping out of the west too. Should blow anything right off. Hopefully. :-\

Wad and I went to Chaumont Sunday. Tough going with a wheeler but doable. Only managed one eye and some dink perch. Wad caught the walleye, his personal best so far 5.4lbs.

They just closed schools here. We are getting bombed here on the north shore with snow. Visability is almost zero at times

The snow was blowing off the ice when I went to work. The band was right to the edge of the lake so a lot of the lake was getting missed. It looks like it dropped a bit further south but still not a direct hit....yet.

Driving down the South Shore until Bridgeport just after 7am, most of the snow had or was blowing off, 60% looked like bare ice.
