Cmonnn. Lock back up so I can walk out there. I want to fish Oneida wed-sunday. As much as I like my small lakes I'm having withdrawals. Plus I still want to get some burbot in the frying pan.

Well let's see. Guys have been restless & moving all day & started moving at 9am. 30%+  are already gone or heading off now.
With this crap layer out here you can hear guys moving on foot 600-700 yards away let alone machines.
Sound like they're creeping up on you only to look out the window and see them that far away.
Slow going, but picking away at them.
Top is softening a bit with the sun and temp.  This morning top layer was breaking in chunks that looked like mini shove ice when you walked. Now foot punches right through.
Slush is real thick but now down to 4-5"

The sky rats just landed about 75' from me eating one someone left out here yest.
Most have no idea how good they are!
Can't say it enough NH & maine guys specifically target them for derbies and eating.  They often stay out all night trying to catch them.  Here guys throw em on the ice  >:(

That's a shame. I saw a couple pickeral on the ice last time I was out. they make great fish patties if you grind them up. people are wasteful. Burbots should just about be spawning now so I may target some shoals and hope for the best. Granted it's good walking out there.

Like I said you suck! Stomachs growling perch on the ice flapping in a slush pool instead of oil!

Brought some to work each day for lunch people in the office said ooooh what's that?
I replied MY lunch.

Hey guys I see there are a few entrance roads off of 13 to get into Verona beach. Which one should I take for the lake access?? Not to familiar with the area. Thank you

Just got off, walk in was better. Between draining, evaporation, and freezing for the ice up we're down to 2-4" of water and crap!  Often times it wasn't over the top of my boot!
Walk sucked! But its getting better

Why access there? There's loads of better places.

That sounds righteous stormy! Coconut crusted walleye? Never thought of trying that.

They just updated watches & warnings. Now they're predicting the lake effect will be farther south.
As I said earlier and yesterday the north shore seems to be awful close to the bullseye.
Now its going into tues. Starting up north over rt13 then settling south.
It'll be close.
Although the wind will help & as the slush is now it will be hard.

Better watch Bill Engvall's take on a colonoscopy. You will better appreciate what you are about to go through. A word to the wise Vaseline can be your best friend tonight. ;) :o

I went out sat and sun, travel is really ruff, sucks. Beat the crap out of my sled going out there, if we get the snow it may be game over for a while, hope we don't get it. There is a top layer or crust over 3 inches of slush. Breaking through ever step not fun and the bite sucks right now too. great talking with everyone today. Also special thanks to the young guy that help me get my sled on the trailer Thank god throttle cable broke right at my truck, made my day that it wasn't on the ice     tight lines

Not much fishing talk on this thread lately, hope the lake hardens up and conditions improve so we get some more interesting banter.  As far as the weather is concerned, the weathermen have no idea what's going to happen until it's happening, I really stopped looking at them seriously any more than 12 hours out.

I went with plan B today and went to Seneca.  Great day weather wise.  Light winds, sunny and mild temps-much milder than predicted.  I like when the weathermen are wrong to my benefit.  Fishing was pretty good too.  Left biting fish with each of us getting a fish on our last cast.  Pics to follow.

Not a lot of pigs, most were 9-11 inches long.  Perfect eaters.  A few were slightly bigger and some slightly smaller.  Most were in 18-30'.  Water temp was 35-36 degrees, colder in front of creek mouths.  Coldest I've ever seen the water there.

Nice job HT, there are plenty of options in NY, that's why I love this state.  Where else can you fish for 10 pound 'eyes through 20 inches of ice one day and then take your boat out the next?  Been a week since I fished Oneida...feels like a month.  Definitely looking forward to getting back on it.
