Nice job on those eyes, Cheek.

Moose thanks for the pics....other posts on this site say that an 8" will work fine with that drill. The posts are out of Michigan I think and they cut like 20 holes in 20 plus inches of ice.

pooch let it be known i used a 8 inch strikemaster auger and a 18 volt dewalt! after 50 holes thru 18 inches of ice the motor went! its too much on the 18 volt drill! now if you found a 24 volt craftsman  you will be in business!   my buddy has one and its got some getttingo power lol

Looks like the webcam is showing slush as far as the eye can see now. Should be interesting out there tomorrow.

There was 5"-6" of slush when I came off at noon and that was when the heavy rain picked back up. Almost done raining now, not sure if its going to pack down much more than this. Might be able to walk on top of it if it gets cold enough Saturday night.

Dark Cloud, Filet, Ice Addict  and others many thanks for the info on the microspikes. I did a bit of online research and they seemed great, but it is always nice to get recommendations from people who really know what they are talking about.

Jay glad to hear that Phil & Dale and your Dad are all doing well. Somehow I can't imagine Fishin Phil in a kayak  ;D.

Delivered some walleye and perch filets to a buddy who works in a bakery in Utica this morning. For my efforts I was rewarded with two loaves of some of the finest Italian bread you ever tasted. Better yet, fresh from the oven.

I like pie. Seriously though I can wait for walking conditions to get better early next week. It's been almost a few weeks since my last trip out there. I was hitting Oneida lake hard for the first half of the season. Fishing the ProAm this weekend then hopefully back out after some walleye. Good luck to those who get out on the lake this weekend.
It'll eat.

I have a dewalt 20v li-ion max, picked it up at lowes for $99 with a charger two batteries and a soft case, it was on sale then, now I think they are $149, which still isn't too bad. I use it on a 6" laser early ice and rarely make it to the second battery after chasing perch all day.

On another note, anyone other then reeleyz make it out today and know how bad the slush/water situation is?

I normally use a 6" hand screw , I was curious how the drill set-up worked with a 6" auger! Sounds as though it works pretty good. How many holes can you get from a fully charged battery??--KP @)
when we had 7-9 inches I was over 50 holes, drove the old guy I was fishing with nuts, the best part is my back wasn't killing me. I got two gas augers and they are sitting in the garage. I bet you still can get 30 right now. I paid 200 for the drill but the best part I will never have to buy a battery again, thats why I bought the ridgid drill.

I bought the Milwaukee because there is a 5 yr warranty on the drill and 3 yr on the batteries.

I can burn up, smash, run the drill into a concrete wall.....and, I get replacements from my supplier!! Cordless drills won't be an issue replacing. ;D This cordless Clam rig has my attention though!! Very light and will drill the amount of holes I need for a day. I just put a new tune-up on my power auger today...If, I have issues with it tomorrow, I will pull the trigger on something new!! ;)

Good setups gents.  Always remember to bring the hand auger attachment for emergencies!  My brother machined an adapter for his M18 to use for our mora 8 inch auger.  Like someone said, the 8 inch was too much for the drill.  It didn't blow up but it did kill the battery life.  We drilled a lot of holes that day and came close to draining both batteries.  We had the hand attachment but luckily we didn't need to use it.
