Is everyone aware that the SU game has been switched to 7:oopm. NC State is having a hard time getting into Syr.

Unless you have snow shoes and a smitty sled you don't want to be out there.

This morning I took a ride on the sled out of Cleveland. There were a few guys out of APPs. There is well over a foot of snow on the ice. Seems to be around 15" in most spots. I did not have any issues with the sled but I was alone and not towing a shanty.

Like Bcons suggested, it would be best to make a trail first, then come back and get your gear.

Rough day for sure.  However figured out where perch are hiding. Nothing spectacular for the knife, however a couple ok 30-40 min. Flurries.  No hard hitters would catch on the drop, had to line watch.  Most of those released would've been kept on Sandy Pond.  First time out this yr with no eyes.

Also getting worried snaggers prediction is going to come true.
Now the warm spell is only 3 days instead of 4.  Temps not quite as high, 2 days low 40's 1 upper 40s but little rain.  This much snow?  Next Sunday & Monday could easily add another 6-8" of white ice to drill through.

It's definitely not enough to get rid of the snow unless it rains a ton. It looks like at least one night above freezing which will help. I am just happy that its going to warm up enough to knock down the snow.

Current Snow Conditions

Obviously conditions are tough, wheelers are a no go (unless you have tracks)
Some sleds are having a tough go of it.  3 friends on 2 sleds had to work at it.  The 2up with 2 guys plus towing gear wasn't going to be able to blaze it's own trail.  Had to pack down a trail with a couple runs over it with the lighter sled & no gear first.

When blazing new trail sleds are sinking in 10+ inches in lots of spots.  Certainly not for the faint of heart this weekend.  The pic below is a couple hrs ago of my oversize pack boots, they're 15" tall.  I'm finding snow depths with the drifts 10-24".  I'm 6'2" and sinking in from mid-calf to sometimes just a few inches below my knees.

Slush is hit or miss, some places few inches of it, others not bad
Good Luck!

Excellent report bcons, thanks

That's why I bought my first power auger 3 weeks ago.  Have we ever had a yr without white ice? it was bound too happen.

wish I had known the game was gonna get re scheduled also, I might of fished shallow somewhere.

Walked out of Godfrey this morning. Wasn't pretty. About the same as everyone else said, ~15" up and down, until the second break. Then I hit snow just over my knee and it stayed like that. Kept pushing thinking it was a drift but I just couldn't make it through it. Stopped at 30'.

First day all year with not even a short eye. On the upside I finally got the burbot I've been looking for. Brought 3 home and everyone LOVED them. Boiled the backs and dipped in butter and fried up the tails. That is one tasty fish.

A couple of wheelers and sleds were out. Wheelers were definitely having trouble. Not sure if this pic does it justice.

Walked off the north shore today solo.  Wanted to get to about 25' but after the snowmobile trail ended it was pretty tough going so I drilled a hole to see how deep  (15 ft) I was and marked fish.  3 drops/3 keeper perch so I set up the shanty and never moved.  Caught about 30 good perch, 1 keeper eye, 1 short and a burbot.  Was never more than a couple minutes without fish on the screen at any point.  Just got lucky today and landed on top of some decent fish.  Most I kept were 10-13" but did keep about 10 in the 8-9" range.  Could've kept a limit in that size range.  Pretty decent day.  Best part is my friends checked on me to see how I was doing and joined me in the afternoon with the sled so I got a lift back in.  Stayed until 4 but the bite was best 8-10am.  Got stopped by DEC too.  No issues thankfully.  Will have an exact count later after cleaning them.

Really tough walking even with the Smitty sled.  Once I got into fresh snow off the trail I could hardly move the Smitty.  Was a little heavy load for walking with a Voyager Trap, electric auger, vex, heater minnows propane and enough food for 3 guys, but my friend couldn't make it at the last minute and didn't feel like switching out the big trap for the liitle one.

Had a good day fishing Moraine today. I hope it all melts. I don't mind white ice as long as I can get to where I want.

Decided to get beck to my roots and hit BB for the afternoon, glad I did  ;D Couldn't imagine the walk out from the North Shore. BB is a sloppy mess, at least a foot of snow up to 6 inches of slush.... Does the lake seem low to anyone? My usual spots that are 7-8 fow were 5.5-06???? Didn't get a count but I'm happy, tons of small gills kept the screen full and as the sun set the crappies came out to play ;D Left at 6:30 to catch the game, was still getting marks and a few short crapps

25-0, they thrive on these close games. Once again their defense bails them out. Unbelievable!

That game was sooooo ugly. They just have an ability to win when they shouldn't. Seems like a team of destiny.

Imagine where they would've been had Christmas  not had a career night. He was the only one who showed up. Not to mention the absolutely bonehead plays of letting someone beat you down court in the last 13 sec. of the game. Or fouling someone 30 feet from the basket. ::) ???

I've been a CUSE fan since Dave Bing, but this team does not seem for real. You just can not play crap teams and struggle  each time .  Hate saying that but that's what I SEE.
