Check the screws on your auger blades before your next trip and make sure they are tight. They have a bad habit of coming loose from these bumpy rides. I lost a screw on my last trip.

Make sure you use the medium strength thread locker on the screws or bolts for your auger blades, it is blue in color.  The medium strength thread locker will prevent the screws or bolts from backing out but will allow you to remove them with a little added effort.  Auto parts stores are a good place to locate thread locker.

hardwater - I am putting a frabill together right now - i like your idea of pop rivets - do you use a backing washer?  Like do you drill completely through both sides of the trim and the sled?
I've done several with rivets.  Either use the biggest heads that will fit or use washers.   The more area that is clamped down from the rivet, the better !
I've also used fine threaded nuts and bolts.   Neoprene or nylon washers on both sides worked great !

I went with the strikemaster cover, much easier and works well. I think I'll be checking that everything is tight. Thanks for the heads up.

Phil,
I'm not sure how the Frabill is made but just looking at the Otter cover and the trim is plastic...so probably have to use washers. The Clam has a vinyl covered metal trim and didn't need them. Gotta make trip to the hardware store anyway as they gave me small self tapping screws to assemble the poles with...not happening on this one!

Yup rough ride for sure even when trying to crawl on a sled or wheeler, had to send one of my last 4 Coleman focus 5's to the graveyard a few days ago, only 2 left now ): Prolly should start carrying my 21 year old Vex on my lap. Anyone know of a fix for this on my heater? Not interested in any other brand just to fix these I think I have a few others kicking around also I'd like to fix.

Had 2 of these through the years, both ended up the same way.

Then temp dropped, wind picked up and now it's snowin again. Almost got frostbite getting my tipups out. a lot of cars on the side of the road. Drive safe fellas

got out again with my grandson this afternoon. got 87 nice gills. most of them were caught the last 1 1/2 hours of day light. it was crazy for a while !!

we have over a foot of snow on the ice on the south shore. wheelers are not a good idea for a couple days.   Sully...

Left the ice around 1:30 at Apps. There was all of ten inches of snow on the ice and it was still snowing hard. No problem with my wheeler but I have pretty aggressive tires and chains. If you have the option a sled would be better.

Another 2-3" tonight, breezy but not windy.  It won't pack hard, but will drift some. Not quite 14" by lewis.
You bring a wheeler you'll spend more time digging & pushing than you do driving.

They discontinued them due to safety issues.  They had a design defect that produced high levels of carbon monoxide.

I had one of those Coleman heaters , it worked great on the boat , but when I saw what they were selling for on eBay I was shocked , everybody likes them and will pay big bucks for a nice one , I sold mine for $95.00 on eBay to some Golfer in Arizona for those chilly days on the course..  these baby's are worth money!!

Bart, I have a Strike Master also and use an elastic bungee cord to hold it on. The rubber straps that came with the cover lasted about a season and were junk. The elastic works pretty well and isn't as rigid as a rubber bungee.

I fished for the last hour and a half before dark in the whiteout. Only managed a couple perch in 24 fow. Was only one other guy out there that I could see. He was on a 4 wheeler. There was a foot of snow on the ice when I headed in at dark.  Walking is going to be a nightmare for a little bit.
